how to chose and use them

Let’s first look at these two sentences:

Rafael ate spinach.          He hates it.

It’s surprising that Rafael ate the spinach. How can we add this idea of surprise? Can you think of ways to connect these two sentences?

Linkers of contrast can be used to connect ideas that are have a surprising or contrasting connection. Not all contrast linkers can be used in the same way.

Now that you’ve learned about contrast linkers, it’s time to practice! Get a pen/pencil and a sheet of paper.

Try to connect the 2 sentences in as many ways as you can on your paper.
